EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique
EFT or ‘Tapping’ is a technique that has featured on popular television programs such as ‘This Morning’ and Paul McKenna’s “I can change your life”. As well as its use to help eliminate Phobias, tapping can also be used to address many conditions without having to relive the symptoms, including:
- Stress
- Depression
- Panic Attacks
- PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder)
Everyone can benefit from tapping. Tapping works well with Hypnosis and can be used by the clients between sessions and after completing therapy. I can show you how you can use tapping, for only a few minutes each day at home, or for any new situations which may arise.
Many cultures including the Chinese, believe there are meridians or energy pathways within the body. Reflexology, Acupuncture, Acupressure and the Bowen Technique all work on the principal that blockages in the energy pathways cause illness, and by stimulating energy points throughout the body, the blockages are released allowing the body to heal itself.
In 1985 a french researcher called Vernejoul showed that by injecting a radioactive tracer dye into the acupuncture points, the meridian lines could be seen, as previously the idea of energy pathways in the body had not been accepted. For further information see Vernejoul, P, et al 1985.
Doctor Roger Callaghan studied the various alternative techniques and found that by tapping on energy points he could treat emotional disorders and other conditions. He called it Thought Field therapy. One of his students Gary Craig further simplified the tapping sequence and used NLP within his sequence and this is now known as EFT.
